What is your refund policy?
For in-person events: A refund of the registration fee paid will be provided where notice of cancellation is received 10 days or more prior to the scheduled session, minus a 25% administration charge. No refund will be provided where notice of cancellation is received fewer than 10 business days prior to the scheduled session or in case of no-show. Registration can be transferred to another individual where notification is received at least 3 days prior to the scheduled session. For webinars: Because our live webinars are archived and available for download to registrants, refunds are not provided. In the event that the Kirsch Institute cancels a specific webinar or workshop, registrants will be refunded 100% of the fee paid.
I’ve purchased a video and I don’t know where to find it.
All our videos are available in the Library section of your account, clickable through the top right-hand side of your screen. Once you click on the video link, you can scroll to the bottom of the following page to find the video loaded into your account. You can click ‘play’ and adjust the sound on your computer or the video screen.
I’ve registered for an upcoming event, but I can’t find the details.
Don’t worry! We’ll be sending you all the information regarding time, location, itinerary and anything we think you should know about the event you’ve registered for. We’ll be sending this the week prior to the event date. You should also check the event information page, as we update this regularly to reflect any changes you might need to know.
Do you offer group discounts?
We do offer group discounts for groups of three or more participants. Please see our pricing model on the right-hand side of the “Curriculum” page (click here). We also offer special discounts for non-profits, Legal Aid, sole practitioners and students. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details. Once you have made your payment, your receipt will be mailed to the email address you’ve indicated online.

I’m experiencing payment issues, can you help?
Please ensure you verify the following items:
- The credit card number and Card Verification Code (CVC) have been entered without spaces, dashes and are correct.
- Confirm that the address on the payment page is the billing address and not your personal address.
- Has your card expired? Please ensure you have the correct expiry date.

Who makes up our faculty?
The Philippe Kirsch Institute prides itself on a world-class consortium of former Supreme Court and International Court judges, leading jurists and esteemed professors as members of its faculty, recognized leaders in their field. As part of a social enterprise, The Kirsch Institute’s faculty is devoted to international legal issues that reach far beyond our borders, and have a global sense of the law, recognizing the importance of Canada within this evolving legal arena. As such, our faculty’s practise areas include national security, constitutional law, corporate and civil law, human rights and immigration law, and they have worked on landmark cases and commissions throughout these fields. How do I reach the faculty?
Our faculty are generally not able to take personal emails, and The Kirsch Institute does not provide their private contact information.
I would like to have one of your faculty members teach a course at our firm, could you provide details?

What type of programming do you offer?
We offer programming on various practice issues, available online in several formats. Through the purchase options described above, you can build a full program that works for you, or complete a programming series that we’ve launched on our site.
Webinars: We offer easily accessible, high quality CPD-accredited webinars, usually 60-minutes in length. Webinars form the basis of our programming thematic series, wherein two or more webinars will be the foundational components to a series, followed by an in-person event (half day).
In-person events: Our in-person CPD-accredited events (half day) provide members the opportunity to delve more deeply into the issues developed in the online webinars. With face-to-face interactions with key leaders in the field, these events combine presentations, panel discussions with question and answer periods, small breakout sessions for case studies, and encourage members to network and meet with our eminent faculty.
We occasionally offer special webinars or in-person events that are not part of a thematic series, but do highlight recent developments on key international legal issues or host invited guest speakers that would be of particular interest to our members.
If I miss a live webinar, can I watch it online?
Definitely. All webinars are recorded and available online. If you purchase a webinar and are unable to attend the live event, the webinar recording will be placed into your account under the ‘Library’ tab. You can then watch it at your leisure at a better time.
How long will a video be available in my account?
Videos that you have purchased will be available in your account under the ‘Library’ tab -indefinitely. Once you have purchased the video you can view it as many times as you choose. We ask only that you do not share the video with any colleagues as it is copyrighted material and is not available for CPD credit for anyone other than the user who purchased it.
If you wish to use the same video in your account in the following year of purchase to gain new CPD hours, you may do so by purchasing the video again from your account.

This might occur if you are using the wrong email and password combination. If this is your first time using this webinar system, you can login using your email address at which you received the invitation email and the password ‘kirsch’. (no punctuation). If, however, you have used this system before, you can sign in using the email address and password you used at your first login.

Do you have French courses available and are they translated into English?
We do have a French-language series that is comprised of a compilation of webinars and event recordings held in Montréal. They are available on our website and the information for the course is available only in French – and is not translated into English.
Are all your courses accredited for CPD?
All our courses are accredited for CPD hours. You can find the CPD hours listed under the course title on the ‘Curriculum’ Page or on the ‘Course’ page itself, with both professionalism and substantive hours listed. As all provinces require different CPD hours, please ensure to check with your society’s website for complete information.

Your account with The Kirsch Institute is your personal account, with proceeds from your purchase going directly to the CCIJ to provide recourse and assistance to victims of mass atrocities, torture and human rights abuses. As a social enterprise, we are able to provide high-quality courses and grow our amazing faculty only through payments for each course and event. We are also only able to provide the law societies with verified CPD confirmation to those members who have paid for our courses/events, or received them through their CPD Director.
