Co-Chair of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, David Scott is a member of Pro Bono Canada and certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. Invested as an Officer in the Order of Canada in 2011, Mr. Scott has received an OBA Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation, a Lifetime Achievement Award in Pro Bono and Zenith Award from Lexpert, an Advocates’ Society Medal, and honorary degrees from the University of Ottawa and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1984, Mr. Scott served as its first Canadian President in 2003- 2004. He occupied the Milvain Chair in Advocacy at the University of Calgary Law School in 1988 and the Silas Hylak Chair in Advocacy at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2009. Mr. Scott has served on the boards of numerous community and charitable organizations and as Chair of Pro Bono Law Ontario. He studied law at the University of Ottawa, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1962, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1976.
